The school is seeking a dedicated knowledgeable and child-centred SENCO to lead the SEND provision across all year groups. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of support for students with special educational needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the SEND department and managing a large team of learning support assistants
Coordinating SEND provision across KS3KS5
Writing reviewing and implementing EHCPs and student support plans
Conducting assessments identifying student needs and planning interventions
Liaising with external agencies including EPs CAMHS speech therapists and social workers
Providing guidance and training to teaching staff on inclusive practice
Ensuring statutory compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
Overseeing exam access arrangements and ensuring JCQ compliance
Meeting regularly with parents and carers to discuss progress and support
Monitoring and evaluating the impact of interventions and provisions
Preparing department reports for senior leadership and governors
This is a high-impact role requiring empathy strategic leadership and expert understanding of SEND practices.
National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) OR willingness to undertake it
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong experience supporting students with diverse SEND needs
Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a team
Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
Strong organisational and record-keeping ability
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers LSAs families and agencies
