UVA Biocomplexity Institute Summer Undergraduate Internship - Computing for Global Challenges (C4GC)

This is an opportunity for UVA undergraduate students desiring to learn about the process of research and team science and how they can make meaningful contributions to solving real-world problems.

The Biocomplexity Institute is seeking applications for undergraduate interns for its Computing for Global Challenges (C4GC) program. The C4GC program will run for 8 weeks beginning in early June. Students work with faculty mentors on ongoing research projects which teach them about the process of research and team science and how they can make meaningful contributions to solving real-world problems. Throughout the summer students learn about cutting-edge software technologies and methods in machine learning network science agent-based simulation data science and computational biology. The students gain a theoretical understanding as well as practical experience with how these methods work and how they can be applied to meet the demands of problems in different domains.

UVA undergraduate students in any discipline are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to enthusiastic applicants who want to take full advantage of this amazing opportunity; demonstrated analytical and computational skills are a bonus. All students must be enrolled at the University of Virginia.

Based on the requirements of the research project these positions may be hybrid remote within the United States or in-person at the Biocomplexity Institutes location at the Dairy Market in Charlottesville (946 Grady Ave Suite 100).

Physical Demands: This position may require the ability to sit stand walk bend stoop squat climb stairs use fine finger manipulation etc. while conducting observing analyzing and/or recording research data.
