Job Summary

Hammond School seeks a qualified and professional IT Support Specialist. This full-time exempt position is responsible for ensuring proper operation of the Schools IT and AV equipment to support end users in achieving the Schools mission. A successful candidate will possess extensive IT knowledge and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Configure and install all IT and AV equipment as requested and approved by the Director of IT and/or School Administration.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level including installing and upgrading software implementing file backups and configuring systems and applications.
  • Assist faculty members with the integration of technology in the classroom.
  • Help students with technology and device issues.
  • Assist with adding new user accounts in Microsoft 365.
  • Create and maintain forms in DiamondMind.
  • Maintain streaming software and data archives of all streamed broadcasts.
  • Assist with configuration of the VoIP phone network.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the School.

Help Desk

  • Field document and prioritize incoming help desk requests via telephone and work orders in a courteous manner.
  • Escalate problems to the Director of IT when necessary.
  • Build rapport and elicit detailed problem information from users.
  • Record track and document the help desk request problem-solving process including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made as well as actions taken to achieve the final resolution.
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Test fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
  • Document resolutions evaluate outcomes and analyze trends to improve future performance.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance in any area of need to support the mission of Hammond School.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Formal Education & Certification

  • College degree and/or 5 years of work experience in a related field.
  • A certification is highly desired.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software systems.
  • Experience with desktop operating systems including Windows 10 iOS and macOS.
  • Broad understanding of application support.
  • Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic tools.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport building listening and questioning.

Work Conditions

  • Sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard mouse power tools and other equipment.
  • Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects such as computers and peripherals.
  • Installation of equipment in classrooms and multi-purpose venues.
  • After-hours work as needed.

This position reports to the Director of Information Technology.
