Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Associates Degree beneficial.
Advanced training in business skills preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Three (3) to five (5) years experience in calculating and running payroll.
Excellent computer skills including word processing spreadsheet and database application software.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to function independently with or without general supervision.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable): Citizenship or work authorization to work in the United States required.

This position is designated as Support: Level 13. The salary range begins at $52160 and can increase based upon education and relevant experience.
Job Summary: Under general direction from the Supervisor of Payroll the Payroll Coordinator performs tasks involved in the timely accurate and effective processing of payroll disbursements for the Intermediate Unit. This position may assist school districts and technical schools with payroll guidance and/or processing along with verifying data entry. This position requires an extremely detail-oriented individual with significant knowledge of payroll functions including state and federal regulations.
Essential Functions:
Supports payroll needs at the Bucks IU and in school districts and CTCs on-site as needed.
Responsible for updating employee payroll records through the review of Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) and the processing of calculations in pay rate adjustments.
Coordinate the processing of the semi-monthly payroll for the Intermediate Unit including salary and hourly administrative professional and classified employees.
Prepare for review federal state and local payroll tax reporting.
Responsible for verifying deductions Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and Tax Shelter Annuity (TSA) payments and reporting; wage attachments and their distribution; Education Association dues direct deposit United Way and any other applicable deductions and related reporting.
Maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with all applicable federal state and local tax wage and hour laws and requirements.
Maintain current knowledge of the Intermediate Units payroll software system and timekeeping system.
Correspond with agencies that require wage information such as PSERS Social Security unemployment and wage verifications.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications such as the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officals (PASBO) and PayrollOrg (PAYO).
Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by safeguarding payroll information.
Flexibility in accommodating various assignments at districts and CTCs in duration and scope.
Maintains positive relationships with school districts and CTCs.
Assists with departmental projects related to process improvements.
Assist the Supervisor of Payroll with management and employee understanding of payroll procedures.
Coordinate with the Supervisor of Payroll the payroll processing of the school district and/or technical schools payroll on-site.
Performs the payroll processing in the absence of the Supervisor of Payroll.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time 260-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on-site. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel: Travel will be required to provide support to districts and/or CTCs on-site as needed.
