The George Institute India

The George Institute a wholly owned legal not-for-profit Indian research institute has been conducting research related activities in India since 2002. The George Institute Indias mission mirrors that of the parent organization namely the discovery and implementation of solutions to chronic and disabling health problems through research policy development and capacity building.

A number of large-scale projects in population health systems and clinical research funded by a diverse group of sponsors both public and private are conducted in India. The George Institute India comprises two distinct operating groups: Research and Development and Infrastructure and Resources. It has two separate offices - in Hyderabad and New Delhi where the research staff and senior management are based.

Context and Role

The Associate Project Manager will support the Centre for Operational Research and Excellence (CORE) in strengthening project operations and research quality across a diverse portfolio of studies including community-based studies health systems research epidemiological studies and qualitative research. Working closely with investigators project managers and the centralized project operations team this role will focus on coordination standardization and development of scalable operational support models that enhance study implementation while respecting investigator-led ownership

Duties and Key Responsibilities

The Associate Project Manager would be expected to:

  • Work with investigators project managers and study teams across multiple therapeutic areas and research methodologies to understand current implementation approaches operational challenges and support needs in the non-clinical trial space.
  • Organize and support meetings workshops and discussions with investigators project managers and implementation staff to surface operational requirements quality gaps and opportunities for shared solutions ensuring these conversations are inclusive and investigator-led.
  • In collaboration with project managers investigators and CORE stakeholders contribute to the identification of areas suitable for standardization including work processes templates guidance documents and standard operating procedures (SOPs) while ensuring flexibility for study-specific needs.
  • Support the design of practical implementation plans that improve research quality and operational efficiency across diverse study types drawing on inputs from study teams and the centralized project operations function.
  • Assist in developing and documenting different models of project operations support (e.g. ad hoc support component-based support or integrated support through routine project meetings) that can be adapted based on study complexity and investigator needs.

As a Team Member:

  • Participate in team meetings and activities relating to the Leprosy trial and own work area;
  • Participate in special projects to improve processes tools systems and organisation;
  • Take responsibility for personal learning and development and for setting achievable and meaningful work objectives and managing personal targets meeting obligations of the Institutes Performance Management and Development Policy;
  • Demonstrate commitment to GIs values including performing to an exceptionally high ethical standard and focus on integrity collaboration and teamwork in all efforts.

Work Health and Safety

  • Comply with Work Health and Safety legislation and operate in accordance with established Occupational Health and Safety practice and procedures at the Institute.
  • Promote and contribute to a safe secure environment for staff and visitors.

Skills Knowledge and Experience

  • Qualifications: Qualification in life sciences medical sciences with;
  • Experience of at least 3 years in clinical/ community trial management;
  • Demonstrated capability to produce outcomes and achieve objectives within agreed time periods;
  • Strong problem solving analytical skills and proven strategic thinking;
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness with ability to influence others to achieve common goals;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high level of proficiency in English and the ability to work well autonomously;
  • Excellent team-workskills with demonstrated ability to collaborate in small teams and with a wide range of varying stakeholders;
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and to be adaptable to changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments;
  • Strong focus on producing the highest quality of work and on ensuring optimum accuracy of outputs;
  • Well organised and efficient with the capacity to work under pressure;
