Position Overview

The Arizona Department of Education is seeking an experienced Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) Grant Specialist to support statewide literacy initiatives across birth 5 K 5 and grades 6 12. This is a limited-funded grant position responsible for coordinating literacy efforts managing grant activities and providing ongoing technical support to schools districts early childhood programs and community partners.

Candidates must be local to Arizona at the time of submission and available for in-person interviews within one week of posting close. Must be able to start within two weeks of offer.

Key Responsibilities Grant & Program Management
  • Coordinate and maintain collaboration between CLSD grant projects and literacy initiatives across the agency and external partners.
  • Manage multiple grant requirements including budgeting compliance reporting and performance tracking.
  • Use data to assess and improve statewide literacy programs.
Technical Assistance & Training
  • Provide technical support coaching and tools to schools LEAs and early childhood programs participating in Arizonas CLSD grant.
  • Deliver professional development webinars presentations and written resources aligned with U.S. Department of Education guidelines.
  • Support ongoing communication and resource dissemination across multiple channels.
Collaboration & Outreach
  • Partner with internal divisions and external stakeholders to maintain cohesive literacy efforts.
  • Conduct occasional in state and rare out of state travel for site visits or conferences.
Daily Expectations
  • 20% Grant processing
  • 20% Data entry and reporting
  • 60% Literacy coordination training and program support
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree OR minimum 2 years relevant experience (professional development coaching literacy work grant management).
  • Knowledge of:
    • Science of Reading & evidence based literacy practices
    • Adult learning strategies
    • Fiscal management budgeting procurement
    • High quality early childhood education (ECE) programming
  • Skills in:
    • Public speaking and effective written communication
    • Organizing and managing multiple tasks
    • Decision-making and problem-solving
    • Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to:
    • Plan and execute goals effectively
    • Build strong working relationships
    • Deliver grant technical assistance and presentations
    • Conduct research analyze data and support evaluation
    • Work with diverse groups and coordinate cross functional collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
  • Arizona Teaching Certification with Literacy or Reading Endorsement
  • Experience with grant management
  • Experience in programs supporting children and families

  • This position requires on-site work up to five days per week as needed.
