Position Summary:
Reporting to the SVP and Business Leader for Illuminas emerging growth businesses the VP and General Manager Global Laboratory Services Business & Operations will oversee a global fully cross-functional team providing visionary business-leadership to expand Illuminas laboratory services offerings for customers third parties and other internal businesses and stakeholders. While always striving to serve the interests and mission of Illumina ultimately expanding & accelerating the adoption and utilization across Illuminas entire portfolio of solutions and offerings.
Illumina is looking for a bold strategic business & laboratory operations leader to run all aspects of the Illuminas 3rd-party services offerings across the entire Illumina and partner ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity within Illumina with the exciting mission to strategically build a portfolio of service offerings across the entire ecosystem including but not limited to CLIA Certified clinical offerings as well as large-scale low-cost sequencing- and array-based services to support large-scale national genome initiatives large-scale data generation services in addition to differentiated & competitive genome factory service offerings. This strategic operation will provide a complete and diverse portfolio of service offering for customers and stakeholders externally and internally.
The VP and General Manager Global Laboratory Services Business & Operations will oversee a portfolio market differentiated and competitive 3rd-party service offerings across all Illumina served markets and customers. Reporting to an Executive Leadership Team member the General Manager will oversee strategy development transformation and disciplined operational execution across functions managing research technology and product development product management quality medical and collaborating with global and regional commercial operations and regulatory affairs and compliance teams.
A deep understanding of life sciences genomic and proteomic service offerings and operations technology trends and a commitment to creativity are essential for leading this strategic transformation organization and business opportunity to deliver a differentiated & competitive portfolio of 3rd-party services internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead a Unified Global Microarray Portfolio and Organizational Competencies
Develop and execute a multi-year global growth & business strategy with regional/local operating plans to expand Illuminas 3rd-party service offerings focused on delivering a complete portfolio of solutions across Illuminas served markets.
Lead the cross-functional team with shared accountability for developing and delivering successful strategic transformation that translates into effective operational plans which deliver expected business results.
Lead the cross-functional and enterprise-wide team to develop and execute a multi-year innovative roadmap of laboratory service offerings.
Collaborate closely with global & regional commercial & operations teams in support of the strategic transformation and operational execution.
Lead the organization to ensure development delivery market and successful sale of a complete portfolio of laboratory service solutions at scale while ensuring compliance with global regulatory & compliance needs.
Ensure seamless collaboration across global and regional teams to represent Illuminas full portfolio of laboratory service solutions to the market and with internal stakeholder businesses and organizations.
Lead a Unified Organization
Build an enduring organizational capability and competence to develop and deliver a competitively differentiated portfolio of 3rd-party service offerings at scale and in support of accelerating adoption and utilization of Illuminas solutions eco-system.
Establish a culture of shared accountability across all functions focused on customer impact compliance and operational excellence.
Champion cross-functional collaboration across enterprise-wide organizations to align on common goals objectives and key performance metrics to support the Global Laboratory Services Business & Operations strategy.
Develop talent future leaders and core competencies including global business leadership in the 3rd-party laboratory services space.
Cultivate a strong collaborative team that represents the VOC for product development market development commercialization and successful global market adoption.
Lead by example promoting cross-functional collaboration and managing the global P&L across the integrated and unified cross-functional organization to achieve target revenue and profit growth (directly and indirectly).
Operate as a player-coach and proven leader/developer of people; capable of leading motivating and holding teams accountable.
Deliver Results with Discipline & Operational Excellence
Lead the development and execution of Illuminas Laboratory Services strategic transformation.
Build an agile and accountable cross-functional business team that embodies operational rigor and discipline to deliver on-target business results deliverables and quality metrics.
Facilitate cross-functional business team to set and own global operating and performance standards with a focus on customer satisfaction (internal & external) business results and compliance.
Collaborate with all global core functions including Sales Service & Support Core R&D Operations Quality Regulatory and Medical Affairs teams to ensure alignment of Illuminas Global Laboratory Services Business & Operations strategy.
Ensure a consistent operating model across all regions and end-customer segments; drive benchmarking and best practice sharing and execution across all functions & regions.
Organizational Leadership
Lead inspire and grow a high-performing cross-functional enterprise-wide global team across R&D Product Management Marketing Operations Quality and Sales & Service functions including other internal business stakeholders (e.g. Bioinsights Clinical CDx).
Foster a customer- and business-led culture of accountability discipline collaboration agility and innovation centered on a complete portfolio of service offerings to deliver differentiated value for customers.
Serve as a key voice of the customer influencing company-wide initiatives.
Champion inclusion talent development and future business-leadership succession across the company.
Requirements:
Demonstrated business-leadership in building and scaling global portfolio of 3rd-party service offerings & operational capabilities with cross-functional leadership responsibility and full P&L management responsibility.
Demonstrated experience leading regulatory-compliant product and workflow solutions development and delivery of a complete portfolio laboratory service offerings.
Ability to influence across all functions including core R&D Regional Commercial teams internal business stakeholders in addition to enterprise-wide shared-service organizations in a matrixed environment.
Strong financial acumen and ability to translate strategy into sustainable & scalable business results.
Experience/Education:
Bachelors or Masters degree in life sciences service laboratory operations with strategic & business operations experience; MBA or advanced clinical degree preferred
Minimum 20 years of increasing leadership experience working in a complex matrixed organization
5 or more years of executive or seniorlevel leadership experience preferred
Minimum 3 years leading a 3rd-party laboratory services business with P&L management responsibility.
