About the area

The Directorate of Student Life and Community is part of the UWA Education Portfolio and supports the student journey from access and enrolment through to graduation. It delivers services across Student Equity and Success UWA Sport Medical Centre Integrity and Standards Unit and Student Wellbeing and Engagement. Its work includes academic support wellbeing services and programmes that enhance the student experience in partnership with the Student Guild residential colleges and the wider Education Portfolio. Student Wellbeing and Engagement provides integrated services that support the UWA Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework and the Safe Respectful and Inclusive Communities Framework. The division includes complex case management early intervention and wellbeing services counselling student onboarding support for international students and primary prevention and clinical responses to gender-based violence.

About the opportunity

  • You will support the safety wellbeing compliance and academic progress of international students under the age of 18 working within relevant University and Australian government requirements.
  • You will engage with students parents guardians homestay providers residential colleges and other internal and external stakeholders to deliver comprehensive support.
  • You will coordinate and implement support services for this cohort and act as a primary contact for international under 18 students.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Substantial relevant experience at an appropriate level including a demonstrated knowledge of relevant policies and procedures for management of international students under the ESOS Act National Code.
  • Substantial experience in working with younger students (under 18 years) from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Highly effective communication customer service and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated high level of computer literacy and proficiency in the production of high-level work using software such as Microsoft Office applications and specified University software programs with the capability and willingness to learn new packages as appropriate.
