Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Systems Administrator plays a pivotal role in driving the efficiency and effectiveness of the South Platte Renew (SPR) IT systems. This position combines expertise in systems analysis hardware/software integration and SQL Server database management to lead critical projects and ensure the seamless day-to-day operation of the SPR technology infrastructure.

The position requires a solid problem-solving capacity and technical understanding to analyze needs identify hardware/software options configure systems and solve problems. The Systems Administrator must also support and train users on various SPR computer hardware applications and systems. This position receives general direction from the Business Solutions Supervisor at SPR and works closely with the City of Englewood (COE) IT staff. It must work well independently and with teams while providing superior customer service.

This position is located at South Platte Renew.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Business Solutions Supervisor

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hardware/Software Integration and Technical Support: Provides technical support troubleshooting and consultation for hardware software and AV; manages inventory; coordinates with COE IT staff and vendors on solutions; trains staff; installs configures maintains and upgrades end-user hardware and software; and documents equipment issues and resolutions.
  • Systems Administration: Installs configures and maintains servers and other computer systems; monitors system performance and troubleshoots issues; manages user accounts permissions and access controls; implements and manages backup and recovery procedures; ensures system security through updates patches and security measures; develops and maintains system documentation; collaborates with SPR and COE IT staff to ensure system efficiency; and plans and implements system enhancements and new technologies.
  • Program & Project Management: Supports organizational IT programs and projects to meet objectives and milestones establish budgets track expenditures prepare reports and coordinates with vendors to ensure effective support to maintain system functions and effective operations.
  • Systems Analysis: Develops long-term strategies for future desktop hardware/software needs; provides systems management integration and complex troubleshooting; analyzes diagnoses and resolves IT problems; prepares documentation for installation configuration and disaster recovery; provides input on new technologies ensuring systems are up-to-date and efficient.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering or a related field.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience supporting administering and implementing enterprise and/or department level computer systems and infrastructure.

Certifications and/or Licensures

  • CJIS Certification (may obtain upon hire)
  • One of the following certifications:
    • Advance Microsoft Enterprise Certification
    • CompTIA
    • VMWare
    • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Required Drivers License

  • Valid Colorado drivers license and a clear or acceptable MVR

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Advanced Knowledge:
    • Microsoft client and server operating systems
    • Microsoft Active Directory DHCP DNS SMTP FTP and HTTP including group policy
    • Microsoft Office 365 products
    • Active Directory Federated Services or SAML 2.0
    • Patch management systems
    • Enterprise storage systems
    • Systems security
    • Modern anti-malware technologies
    • Computer/server hardware and software diagnostic methods and techniques
    • Server operating system and application tier security concepts and techniques
    • Database technologies such as SQL or Progress
  • Working Knowledge:
    • Administration of web services technologies (.Net and Java) web security technologies and techniques such as SSL and encryption technologies
    • Network operating system and data communication capabilities and functions
    • Industry accepted security models practices and technologies
    • Municipal government standard business practices with software applications and operating policies and procedures
    • Client/server applications and adaptability to new technologies
    • Plan hardware and software deployments to meet enterprise and/or department goals

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in a standard office environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time and occasional medium lifting (up to 30 lbs.). Job requires visual and physical capabilities to perform data entry filing and to work on computers and associated equipment for prolonged periods of time (4-6 hours daily).

$79928 - $119892/Annual Salary
