About the opportunity

The Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Japanese is a teaching-intensive position and key member of the schools teaching team. This role is primarily responsible for the delivery of high-quality teaching and teaching-related activities. The role also a research allocation that contributes to the field of research related to Japanese language or related teaching program.

What youll do:

  • Contribute to the teaching of core Japanese language and culture units including beginner intermediate and advanced levels.
  • Develop effective interdisciplinary links inside the School and University and lead strategic engagement with the school sector and with wider community.
  • Play a key role in developing community-facing initiatives that promote Japanese language and culture across Tasmania.
  • Undertake high-quality scholarly activities under limited supervision either independently or as a member of a team in order to meet and regularly exceed the Universitys performance expectations for Level A or B.
  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.

What were looking for:

  • A four-year tertiary qualification in Japanese studies or other relevant field and/or equivalent qualifications.
  • A PhD or equivalent in Japanese studies or other relevant field. (Level B)
  • Experience in University-level teaching and learning.
  • A good record of and continuing commitment to research that has achieved national recognition and made worthwhile contributions to the field of Japanese or language studies demonstrated by a record of quality publications presentations at conferences and preferably success in securing external competitive and other funding.
  • A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline school sector and wider community.

Salary details

Appointment to this role at an Academic Level A and will have a total remuneration package of up to $125877 comprising base salary within the range of $83198 to $107587 plus 17% superannuation.

Appointment to this role at an Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155885 comprising base salary within the range of $114766 to $133235 plus 17% superannuation.
