QuarterLine (QL) a Planned Systems International (PSI) company is seeking a dedicated Admissions and Disposition Clerk to support the Patient Administration Department at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth VA.
- Duty Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. No Telework allowed.
- Duty Hours: Monday Friday (0). Total work hours shall not exceed 40 hours per week.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
- Receives andscreenstelephone calls; receives walk-in patients; responds to various general and routine medical personnel and administrative inquiries and escortspatientsas necessary.
- Creates preadmission charts and completes the process in the electronic medical record or government systemsin accordance withregulation and local policy and procedure.
- Provides advance directives third party liability documentation and other forms forpatientto complete for inclusion into inpatient medicalrecord.
- Tracks and reports daily patient movement bedstatusand ward transfers.
- Correctsadmission errors.
- Assistsin coordinating patient transfers from other wards or to outside facilities.
- Tracks andreportsall casualty reports and notifications in accordance Government policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree/Education: High School degree / GED
- Experience: Possess a minimum of two (2)yearsOffice Automation/Front Desk Clerk with at least one (1) year in a medical or hospital environment.
- Knowledge of MedicalTerminology.
- Knowledge anddemonstratedcompetence in the use of the capabilities operating characteristics and advanced functions of office automation software (e.g. word processing desktop publishing graphics database spreadsheet or communication).
- Capable of typing 60 words per minuteand well versed in the operation of a wide range of dictating equipment and software.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of standard medical facility/office rules regulationsStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs)and other guidelines relating to completingtasks. This knowledge is usuallyattainedthrough extensive increasingly difficult and practical experience and training in a medical office or similar setting.
