Nurse Anesthesia EducationJob Description
Instruct supervise and evaluate nurse anesthesia students in perioperative anesthesia care and services.
Develop and implement academic courses as assigned including course objectives syllabi lectures and materials. Conduct academic testing and evaluations with appropriate validation techniques maintain grade book and monitor student attendance.
Serve as Faculty Advisor to students including counsel students concerning clinical didactic and personal concerns; conduct summative clinical evaluation conferences; ensure that students receive clinical experiences and required cases and attend case conferences.
Supervise student senior scholarly projects independently or collaboratively.
Assist in the selection of applicants for admission to the program and in determining student status including retention probation and graduation.
Represent department on School of Health Professions and University committees.
Attend educational meetings and clinical conferences.
Participate in state and national anesthesia organizations and conferences related to nurse anesthesia education and/or practice.
Maintain and develop knowledge and skills in the art and science of nurse anesthesia.
Develop short and long-range goals for self and department and conduct an annual self-performance evaluation with the department chair.
Strive to publish in refereed journals and recognized texts and present at local state and national conferences.
Assist in developing scholarly projects and assist with grant-supported research.

Required Qualifications
Education: DNP DNAP or Ph.D. degree.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements institutional standards of academic and professional excellence alignment with peer institution benchmarks and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Certifications:
Current certification/recertification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
Current unrestricted licensure or eligible for licensure in Kansas as a Registered Nurse and APRN/Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
Must have current BLS ACLS and PALS certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience:
Two years CRNA experience.
One year teaching experience in clinical and/or academic settings.
