Oversees the preparation of operating and capital budgets for the transplant programs.
Drives outreach opportunity development and patient transplant volume growth.
Monitors monthly budget reports and responds to significant variances.
Prepares and assists with year-end capital and operational budgets.
Works with managed care contracting to develop contract language as well as the Finance Department to ensure fiscally reasonable rates for transplant.
Works with physician leaders to ensure fiscal objectives are achieved.
Has clear understanding of cost containment Government reimbursement for transplant including Medicare cost reporting and managed care contracting.
Involvement in revenue cycle management to ensure correct coding for complex cases charge appropriateness billing and reimbursement (per contracted agreements).
Oversight and delegation of claims management vendor invoices and minor equipment.
Work with financial coordinators to ensure pre-transplant authorizations and due diligence of financial appropriateness of transplant candidates.
Responsible for regulatory compliance with UNOS CMS KODA and JCAHO.
Ensures each transplant program is adherent to all regulatory and accrediting agencies and will work closely with management to correct deficiencies
Will report any non-compliance to executives of UofL Health UofL School of Medicine and physician leaders of the programs.
Oversees quality improvement for the programs and ensures participation from physician leaders and all levels of staff as appropriate.
Will work with quality department to create quality agendas for each program specifically and for all inclusive quality agenda for all programs.
Will work with quality department to incorporate transplant quality into the overall health care system quality program and will report to the Medical Executive Committee Safety Committee and Board as required.
Participates in each Organ Selection Meeting at lease once monthly to monitor adherence to selection criteria but may attend more frequently if concerning issues of patient selection and team dynamics are reported or if a program is under CMS or UNOS scrutiny.
Understands Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) reporting and monitors proactively to communicate and act on concerning trends.
Responsible for and has knowledge of program reviews from MPSC mitigating factors applications and SIAs.
Responsible for marketing and outreach initiatives including outreach clinics marketing materials website donate life events and other community activities.
Work with and manage approximately 50 FTEs. This oversight will include:
o o Productivity reporting
o o Payroll issues
o o Time studies
o o Performance reviews of mangers and anyone reporting directly to the Exec Dir
o o Staffing benchmark reporting and ensuring adequate staffing
o o Request for positions
o o FMLA regulations
o o Recruitment and retention of staff
o o Staff meetings and other communications
o Other duties as assigned.
