Position Summary:
The primary function of the Finance Department is to oversee and manage the financial aspects of the companys operations. This includes activities such as financial planning budgeting and forecasting as well as monitoring and analyzing financial performance. The Finance Department is responsible for managing cash flow ensuring proper allocation of financial resources and providing financial reports and analysis to support decision-making at both operational and strategic levels. Additionally the Finance Department handles tasks such as invoicing customers processing vendor payments managing financial risks and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies. The Financial Controller is an integral member of the Finance department. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance this individual manages the accounting cycle and financial reporting. The Finance Controller will be primarily responsible for collaborating with operational leadership and finance colleagues to deliver accurate timely and highly valued accounting and financial financial insights that support both strategic and operational decision making.

Full responsibility for team or department results budget management strategic goal setting and organizational policy and achievement execution of such goals. Influence others within and outside their job area regarding policies practices and approaches. Accountable for internal and external relationships management with clients and senior partners.
Key Tasks
- Responsible for ongoing preparation and submission of financial reporting requirements and weekly cash flow information to the head office external users and internal users. Responsible for financial analysis variance analysis and reconciliations.
- Prepare analyze and submit monthly quarterly and annual financial results KPIs and various financial reports for the Canadian businesses to head office and senior management ensuring compliance with IFRS.
- Drive continuous improvement in the financial close process by defining clear documented procedures for all tasks to ensure consistency accuracy and timeliness of the close process.
- Prepare weekly cash flow reporting and cash management requests.
- Establish monitor and enforce internal controls policies and procedures to protect assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Leverage ERP systems and automation tools to improve accuracy reduce errors and drive efficiencies in financial close processes.
- Co-ordinate the budget process monitor variances analyze spending trends and develop financial forecasts for submission to headquarters and the BOD.
- Manage external audit processes and oversee tax compliance and filings.
- Develop and Mentor a team of two direct reports.
- Complete additional departmental tasks in line with business needs as determined.
Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting.
- CPA Certification mandatory.
- 8 years of post-qualification experience including direct experience managing the financial close process for a mid-to large public/private organization or other relevant experience.
- Big-4 firm experience is a strong asset
- Knowledge of internal controls and demonstrable experience driving improvements in the financial close process.
- Strong work ethic and flexibility to meet dynamic business needs.
- Advanced technical skills in MS Excel and ERP aptitude. (Knowledge of SAP is an asset)
- Demonstrates leadership and entrepreneurship.
- Effective time management skills to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Works effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Effective communicator in both written and spoken English and French.
