JOB DESCRIPTION:

Jeffco Division of Children Youth Families and Adult Protection (CYFAP) is a consensus based/collective decision-making organizationwiththe majority ofdecisions andplans related to enhancements of our practice and work culturebeingmade in committees.Just as we want to hear the voices of all CYFAP staff through their participation in committees we want to hear the voices of individuals with lived experience as we make practice and policy decisions.Individualswithlived experiencein child welfareas a parent youth or bothwill become active and equal members of the CYFAP SteeringCommitteeto bring their voice experience and passion to actively help CYFAP to continue to change our child welfare system to better meet the needs and enhance outcomes of children youth and families and to reduce/eliminate disproportionality and disparity for how marginalized families experience child welfare in Jefferson County.

SCHEDULE:

This is a temporary non-exempt hourly position thatoperateswithin our 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday) working amaximumof 10 hours each month in-personvirtuallyor a combination of both.

COMPENSATION:

Hiring Range: $30.80 - $32.50USD Hourly

Compensation will bedeterminedbased on education experience and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Parent and Youth Advisorsare responsible forthe following duties:

  • Activelyparticipatein monthly CYFAP Steering meetings including ensuring that their voice is heard around the effect on children youth parentsfamiliesand communities for the possible implementation of policy and practice.These meetings will be in person virtual or a combination of both.

  • Prepare for CYFAP Steering meetings by reviewing the agenda and any documents before the meeting.

  • If needed meeting with CYFAP staff before the CYFAP Steering to have a better understanding of any proposed policy and practice documents tomore fully engage in Steering discussions.

  • If needed meet with CYFAP staff after the CYFAP Steering to discuss any worries about the meeting and/or their experience.

  • Ifappropriateparticipatein a Workstream or Committee toparticipatein the development of a policy or procedure.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:Minimum one yearexperienceasaclientinvolvedin the child welfare system as either a parent child/youthor both.The child welfare assessment and/or casemust be successfully closed for at leastone year.

Education:High school diploma or GED

Preferred knowledgeskillsand abilities:

Experience with being involvedas aclientin the child welfare system as either a parent child/youthor both.The child welfare assessment and/or case must be closed for at least one year.

  • Lived experienceas an involved client in the child welfare system such asa parent childyouthor kin provider

  • Strong customer service

  • Ability to articulate clearly and effectively to varying levels of customer

  • Passionate about making a difference in the lives of families in the community.
