Job Summary

Job Title: Director of Afterschool ProgramsReports To: SuperintendentFLSA Status: ExemptWork Year: 12-month administrative contract (260261 days)Position may be partially funded through federal or state grants and is contingent upon continued SUMMARY: The Director of Afterschool Program is responsible for the leadership oversight and strategic direction of afterschool and summer programs in the Central Vermont Supervisory Union including 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21C) Director ensures that afterschool and summer opportunities advance district academic priorities while maintaining full compliance with applicable federal state and licensing role blends program leadership fiscal management staff supervision community collaboration and continuous DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Leadership and DevelopmentPlan develop implement and evaluate high-quality afterschool and summer programs aligned with district goals and school improvement afterschool vacation and summer programming across all participating programs support academic achievement enrichment student engagement and social-emotional afterschool programs with school-day instruction where and strengthen program quality using recognized quality assessment tools (e.g. YPQA or similar).Develop and implement a continuous quality improvement and oversee family engagement activities connected to afterschool and summer Management and ComplianceOversee all aspects of 21st CCLC grant compliance with all federal state and district requirements related to expanded learning and submit required grant reports performance reports data submissions and budget required state trainings and technical assistance documentation required for grant monitoring and audit compliance with Vermont Afterschool Child Care Program Licensing Regulations where facilitate and maintain documentation of required 21st CCLC advisory board meetings in accordance with grant regular written and oral reports to the Superintendent and School Board regarding program outcomes fiscal status and with district transportation and food service departments to ensure compliance with program compliance related to program meals and snack services in coordination with district food OversightDevelop and manage annual program budgets in collaboration with the CVSU Business expenditures to ensure compliance with grant and district financial enrollment staffing and operational needs to maintain fiscal program purchases and oversee supply and equipment development of additional funding streams grants and community and implement long-term sustainability strategies for expanded learning programming beyond current grant fee structures billing systems and family payment processes in coordination with the Business Supervision and Human ResourcesRecruit hire supervise and evaluate site coordinators and assistant director (if applicable).Develop and maintain written job descriptions aligned with district expectations and state regular supervision coaching and professional development for program staff meet licensing and credentialing staffing systems that ensure safe supervision ratios and program a collaborative inclusive and mission-aligned team and Family EngagementEnsure a safe welcoming inclusive and developmentally appropriate environment for all site coordinators in addressing behavioral concerns using restorative and developmentally appropriate regular communication with families regarding enrollment attendance and programming orientation materials and handbooks for families and strong partnerships with families to increase access engagement and program and monitor enrollment systems to ensure equitable access to programming across schools and student Partnerships and Public RelationsDevelop and maintain partnerships with community organizations local businesses and service and oversee Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and service as liaison between the district and community partners supporting afterschool and summer Evaluation and ReportingOversee student enrollment and attendance tracking participation outcome and quality data to guide program reports for state agencies funders district leadership and advisory confidentiality of all student and staff with school administrators to align afterschool and summer data with district academic data Safety and Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with all health safety and emergency preparedness safety procedures with school principals and district staff training in emergency protocols CPR/First Aid and mandated implementation of state-mandated child abuse and neglect reporting as mandated reporter in accordance with Vermont implementation of district policies related to student conduct safety and nondiscrimination within afterschool and summer RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct supervision of Assistant Director (if applicable) Site Coordinators and afterschool/summer for hiring evaluation discipline and professional growth of assigned volunteers and contracted partners operating within afterschool and summer PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in district leadership meetings and contribute to supervisory union district-wide planning efforts including strategic planning and continuous improvement with school administrators and central office leadership to advance district other duties as An equivalent combination of relevant education credentialing and progressively responsible experience in youth development or program administration may be considered. Minimum of three to five years of experience managing afterschool summer or youth programs. Experience managing federal or state grants preferably 21st CCLC. Demonstrated experience supervising staff. Demonstrated fiscal management and budget oversight experience. Knowledge of Vermont licensing regulations for afterschool child care programs. Strong organizational communication and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple schools and stakeholder groups. Successful completion of background and fingerprint checks as required by and Licenses: Vermont Afterschool Professional Credential or Program Director Credential preferred. Valid Vermont drivers license preferred; reliable transportation required for travel between school Skills: Ability to read analyze and interpret periodicals professional journals procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents individuals and groups from the greater school community is essential. Mathematical/Reasoning Skills: Ability to work with basic and advanced mathematics concepts such as addition subtraction fractions probability and statistical inference is essential. Applies concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete Skills and Experience: Ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Office Google Suite (email calendar docs sheets) grading student information assessment systems and new software programs as systems upgrade. Other Skills and Abilities: Some knowledge of government funding requirements and the ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field is required. An ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff volunteers and the community is essential. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form is required. An ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board policies is & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively efficiently and regularly communicate and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals including students peers subordinates supervisors parents and representatives of outside organizations. Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and handle stress. Have demonstrated experience successfully supporting diverse students including students of color English Language Learners and LGBTQ students.
