About the Role
A welcoming school in the historic city of York is looking for a dedicated Caretaker / Site Assistant to join their team immediately.
As the face of the site you will play a crucial role in ensuring the school remains a safe clean and fully functioning environment where students can thrive. This is a varied role combining physical work problem-solving and health & safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance: Carry out essential repairs including basic plumbing carpentry painting and decorating.
Site Security: Open and close the school daily manage alarms and perform key-holding duties.
Health & Safety: Conduct regular inspections and maintain accurate records for fire safety water hygiene (Legionella) and playground equipment.
Grounds Upkeep: Keep school grounds tidy manage waste disposal and complete seasonal tasks such as gritting during winter.
Candidate Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in caretaking site management or trades is highly desirable.
Reliability: A dependable professional who takes pride in the security of the premises.
Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with the School Business Manager and cleaning staff.
DBS: Enhanced DBS check required (assistance with application available if needed).
