Position Overview
The Non-Certified Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in preparing packaging and distributing prescription medications within a high-volume mail-order pharmacy environment serving Veterans nationwide. This role focuses on medication fulfillment inventory support and operating pharmacy automation under pharmacist supervision.
Schedule
1st Shift: 6:00 AM 2:30 PM
Monday Friday operations (overtime/holidays as needed)
Key Responsibilities
Prepare package label and distribute prescription medications for pharmacist review
Select medications by drug name strength and National Drug Code (NDC) using scanning systems
Fill and stock medications in automated dispensing equipment and storage locations
Operate pharmacy automation such as autofill machines repackaging equipment and electronic scales
Maintain medication inventory rotate stock and check expiration dates
Clean equipment and perform basic preventative maintenance (vacuuming wiping minor adjustments)
Follow all safety procedures when handling medications and hazardous materials
Maintain accurate records and support overall pharmacy workflow
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 6 months of pharmacy experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program (retail or hospital setting preferred)
Basic math skills and ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations
Basic computer and typing skills
Ability to read write and speak English fluently
(Certification is not required but is highly encouraged and may be required for certain processes or equipment.)
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods (8 10 hours)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when needed
Ability to push/pull carts up to 150 lbs
Ability to perform repetitive motions such as reaching stocking and scanning
