ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs quality analysis on work performed by others using the Squan QC Checklist
- Mentors/coaches designers and drafters on industry standards client guidelines manufacturer specifications and Squan standards/processes.
- May be asked to participate in interviews of other quality analysts and provide feedback.
- Ensures designs follow industry standards client guidelines manufacturer specifications and Squan standards.
- Uses a value-based engineering approach to make sure quality control is efficient and limited in scope relevant to the project that ultimately allow for an efficient quality constructable design.
- Must take a personable approach to quality control and communication of markups/deficiencies to the team.
- Approaches quality control as an efficient exercise and ensures all markups do not include subjective requests or requests that are not specific to the permit or design scope.
- Works closely with peer quality analysts and quality manager to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Drives profitability by marking up mistakes that impact constructability major material variances schedule impacts and moderate deviations
- Stays current with scope changes and understands the scope applicable to the work being performed.
- Communicates with designers drafters design managers and project managers within Squan.
- Adheres to the timelines for quality control and all other tasks.
- Collaborates with design lead or designers and other engineering production personnel to overcome obstacles by either coaching or training depending on the issue at hand.
- Must provide project specific clarifications on the checklist to employees and managers and update the team when clarifications are needed.
- Seeks to grow his or her knowledge and follows the prescribed quality control program achieving the goal of efficient and effective quality processes and adhering to the quality control standard checklist.
- Tracks quality scores by employee/project once tracking system is established.
- Attends meetings with quality manager and Squan Leadership as needed.
- Submits timesheets daily with the appropriate time coded to the project aspect and task.
- Reviews production quantity and units entered into RDB as part of the QC process.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management Team or Technical Director
- When challenged on a markup the quality analyst must be able to provide supporting documentation that supports the markup(s) in a standard or scope from the client a national or jurisdictional requirement or an internal project specific process or template.
- Given that employees are scored on their work many will seek to understand and challenge a markup and the Quality Analyst must be able to support their position with facts and documentation and be able to articulate this in a professional manner.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to follow a process and interpret standards guidelines and requirements effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
- Must communicate with empathy and build rapport with the team members quality and production to ensure quality control remains a collaborative process amongst all teams.
- Excels at organization time-management problem-solving communication and attention to detail.
- Must work with a strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to plan coordinate and track project development.
- Strong work ethic leads by example and does what it takes to get the job done.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite AutoCAD PDF editors and with various other software programs.
- Ability to communicate professionally at all times with clarity at the frequencies required by management and customers.
- Ability to understand different personalities and adjust approach accordingly.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage time based on production metrics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 18 or older.
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD.
- Must have 4 years of experience in telecom design or OSP design
- Able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks assigned in a timely manner.
- Valid drivers license and excellent driving record.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)
- Bachelors degree in engineering business administration or a related degree
- Working knowledge of Esri GIS software products
