Summary
MSU Denver seeks a visionary manufacturing industry experienced Director of the Advanced Manufacturing Sciences Institute (AMSI) to lead a dual mandate: (1) operate an Industry 4.0 Center of Excellence (COE) that serves Colorado manufacturers through demos training microcredentials and sponsor partnerships; and (2) stand up and steward a Masters of Science in Innovation (Industry 4.0/5.0) graduate program emphasizing AIdriven modelbased manufacturing with a strong humancentered (Industry 5.0) and space/hirel quality focus. The Director is the Institutes chief integratorlinking industry faculty labs and studentsand is accountable for growth quality compliance and impact.

Type: 12month administrative staff (endowed directorship) with potential teaching load by mutual agreement
Key Responsibilities
1) Institute Leadership & Strategy
Set and execute the Advanced Manufacturing programs mission vision and annual plan; drive the programs strategy by advancing industry relevant technologies practices and partnerships that prepare students for immediate workforce impact and address critical manufacturing workforce gaps while ensuring alignment with college and university strategy budgets and policies.
Maintain a highfunctioning Advisory Board with an outcomes/KPI dashboard (sponsors student credit hours enrollmentsincluding 41 badge revenue placements).
2) Industry 4.0 Center of Excellence (COE)
Lead and scale the feeforservice partnerships engine: demonstrations corporate training (standard/custom) microcredentials/certificates applied R&D capstone sponsorships and selective lab/equipment access.
Leverage Colorado Advanced Manufacturing Association (CAMA) networks and state/federal awards (OEDIT EDA) to convene industry partners launch high-impact programming and generate applied industry projects.
Standardize scoping IP safety and KPI templates for company projects; ensure prudent financial management and risk controls.
3) Graduate Program: MS in Innovation (Industry 4.0/5.0)
Utilize industry-driven principles aligned with college program requirements to lead the launch and continuous improvement of the MS in Innovation featuring an AMSI core in AI for Production Digital Thread/Model-Based Engineering Metrology & Automation and Reliability/Cleanliness for Space with both Plan A (Thesis) and Plan B (Industry Studio) pathways.
Build the Center of Excellence (COE) MS pipeline: make COE badges prereqs that stack into the MS; ensure a reliable sponsor flow for Industry Studios each term.
Coordinate crosscollege delivery (Aerospace/Design/Engineering/Computer Science/Aviation) 41 pathways assessment artifacts (FAI/NCR SPC dashboards) and accreditationready documentation.
4) Academic & Student Success (selective teaching load)
Partner with academic departments to align curricula with current and emerging industry needs; strategically schedule AMSI-tagged laboratories; and expand internships apprenticeships and graduate placement with manufacturing employers.
When teaching model industry best practices in human-in-the-loop and ethical AI along with rigorous model-based work instructions and documentation (e.g. MBWI digital travelers scan-to-model overlays).
5) Laboratory & Compliance Stewardship
Oversee AMSI labs/testbeds (additive/hybrid CAM metrology/vision teleops cobot VR/AR vacuum/outgassing) for safe scheduled crossprogram use and cross-program access while maximizing opportunities for industry collaboration and applied research.
Enforce OT/robotics safety lockout/tagout (LOTO) segmented networks and (as applicable) export control/ITAR segregation and documentation supporting industry partnerships through rigorous documentation and adherence to regulatory standards.
6) Advancement Grants and External Relations
Partner with Advancement on gifts/sponsorships; write/manage grants; grow feeforservice revenue; cultivate tenants/partners in the AES building.
7) Administration & Reporting
Prepare annual reports budget plans and periodic reviews; supervise and evaluate AMSI staff; manage MOUs with academic units and external partners.

Salary for Announcement
Under Colorado law MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications analysis of internal equity and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $112131 - $135537.
This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
