About the Role

Te Pae Oranga Iwi Community Panels (Community Justice Panels) are a partnership between Te Rūnanga o Ngā Maata Waka and NZ Police. Together we deliver a responsive community-focused approach that addresses offending behaviour while working to prevent reoffending and victimisation.

This kaupapa holds people accountable for their actions while supporting them to address the underlying challenges they may be facing.

As the Te Pae Oranga Facilitator you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of the service and supporting participants through the panel process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the Te Pae Oranga database ensuring all actions and documentation are accurate and up to date
  • Coordinate panel processes and related administrative requirements
  • Support and guide participants through the Te Pae Oranga process
  • Prepare clear concise and accurate reports
  • Work collaboratively with Police panel members and community stakeholders
  • Do you believe in the power of restorative processes to transform lives and strengthen whānau

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about kaupapa Māori approaches to justice and is committed to walking alongside people on their journey toward accountability and positive change.

What Youll Bring

You will bring:

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to build rapport quickly and work effectively with a diverse range of people
  • Strong case management capability
  • Confidence working independently within a small team environment
  • An understanding of restorative justice principles
  • Knowledge of tikanga and kaupapa Māori values and principles

Essential Requirements

  • Full clean New Zealand driver licence
  • Clean criminal record
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
  • Strong computer literacy

Facilitation training will be provided to the successful applicant.
