Brief Position Summary

The Prospect Development Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Trust for the National Malls philanthropic endeavors. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropic Operations this manager is charged with delivering highly efficient and effective prospect identification and research services that significantly expand the donor base and strengthen the pipeline. With a focus on developing major gift and campaign prospects the Prospect Development Manager works closely with gift officers and leadership to deliver research and insights that result in transformative gifts.

Salary Range: $66000 to $72000

Responsibilities

Research Prospect Management and Donor Vetting (60%)

  • Oversee and conduct comprehensive research to identify high-potential individuals corporations and foundations.
  • Manage internal and external prospect/donor vetting process in collaboration with the National Park Service.
  • Analyze prospects financial capacity philanthropic tendencies and connections to the National Mall and synthesize research to create in-depth profiles briefings and reports and to inform the development of pitch decks proposals and other resources.
  • Align prospect identification efforts with fundraising goals and priorities.
  • Manage prospect assignment and oversee moves management processes.
  • Collaborate with Major Gift Officers on prospect engagement strategy inspiring increased donor engagement.
  • Facilitate quarterly pipeline reviews and biweekly pipeline meetings to optimize portfolio composition and cross-team prospect development.

Assessment and Forecasting (15%)

  • Collaborate in developing metrics and tools for monitoring fundraising and gift officer performance and projecting annual revenue.
  • Analyze data to inform guidelines for prospect rating stage aging and opportunity probability scoring.
  • Leverage research and data to build multi-year pipelines that achieve targets across revenue streams and funding priorities.
  • Guide the development of reports and dashboards including advanced data visualizations and predictive models to provide actionable insights for gift officers and leadership.

Processes and Systems (15%):

  • Maintain appropriate policies procedures and data standards for prospect management in the CRM; provide training documentation and support to CRM users.
  • Enhance prospect development processes to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage research tools and resource procurement utilization and maintenance and participate in advancing the data and systems roadmap.
  • Continuously grow and share expertise to enhance the Trusts prospect development efforts.

Administration and Management (10%):

  • Manage prospect research intern(s) and oversee support staff research-based work
  • Participate in Trust-wide performance management team building professional development and recruitment activities and facilitate these activities for direct reports as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Skills

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required with demonstrated ability to adapt communication style for the intended audience and purpose.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly gather evaluate and concisely synthesize information is essential.
  • Applied knowledge of prospect research prospect development and pipeline and moves management practices is required.
  • High degree of professionalism confidentiality and discretion in working with sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with MS Office is essential specifically with Outlook SharePoint Teams Word Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or a similar CRM system is required.
  • Strong competency with industry standard research and wealth screening tools is preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI) is beneficial.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline or with a general education core that emphasizes writing and composition critical thinking analytical reasoning and research lieu of degree candidates may demonstrate equivalent preparation through education training and experience.

Experience

  • At least two years of professional experience in a request-driven environment with direct responsibility for prioritizing tasks to deliver on-time results is required; and
  • At least two years of relevant experience with research and/or fundraising for a non-profit or other philanthropic organization is required.
