Position Summary
The Safety Specialist supports the development implementation and monitoring of company safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. This role partners with operations and field teams to identify hazards investigate incidents and promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts safety inspections of facilities equipment and work practices to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Monitors compliance with OSHA and applicable safety regulations and ensures employees understand and follow safety requirements
- Investigates incidents near misses and recordable events to identify root causes and recommends corrective and preventive actions
- Partners with Learning and Development to support safety training onboarding and ongoing employee education
- Reviews safety data KPIs and trends including DART and recordables to support risk mitigation efforts
- Documents incidents inspections and corrective actions and maintains accurate safety records
- Supports development and maintenance of safety policies procedures and standard operating practices
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree or a Combination of education training and experience.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a safety or compliance-related role
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to write implement and follow standard operating procedures
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations preferably within construction or home improvement environments
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1B status).
Preferred Knowledge Skills Abilities or Certifications:
- OSHA 510 certification or ability to obtain within the first 90 days
- Experience supporting safety programs in construction field operations or manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with safety KPIs risk mitigation strategies and liability reduction
- Experience analyzing safety data and translating findings into actionable recommendations
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional overnight travel is required (1-10%).
Overtime/Additional Hours Requirements:
- Overtime/Additional Hours Requirements:
- May be requested to work overtime on evenings and weekends dependent on business need.
Physical Requirements:
- Normal Office Environment
- Indoor work in a climate-controlled environment.
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
