Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Operations Support Manager to oversee and enhance our transportation and logistics operations within Tobin Group. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the Tobin Groups day-to-day logistics functions run smoothly and remain fully compliant with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management coaching teams a solid understanding of transportation compliance and the ability to lead process improvements. This role requires flexibility with travel between our Peabody and Beverly locations.
Location:
The primary work location for this role is Peabody with regular travel required to the Beverly site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Management:
- Ensure all transportation operations comply with local state and federal DOT and motor vehicle registrations.
- Maintain and audit driver qualification files HOS (Hours of Service) vehicle maintenance records and ELD logs.
- Monitor and implement updates to DOT regulations and communicate changes to leadership and staff.
- Coordinate with safety teams on accident reporting drug & alcohol testing and compliance training.
- Operational Support:
- Support daily transportation and logistics operations including routing scheduling and dispatching.
- Coach and develop drivers on safe driving habits and partnering with vendors for best practices.
- Analyze operational performance data to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions including training programs
- Collaborate with drivers dispatchers and warehouse personnel to ensure seamless execution of logistics plans.
- Process Improvement
- Develop and document SOPs for operations and compliance workflows.
- Identify and lead initiatives to improve service delivery cost-efficiency and regulatory adherence.
- Ability to partner cross-departmentally to meet company goals.
- Team Leadership & Communication:
- Provide guidance and support to administrative and logistics support staff.
- Conduct training sessions on DOT compliance safety and operational procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between operations compliance HR and senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Logistics Transportation Business Administration or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge of DOT FMCSA insurance agreements and related transportation compliance standards.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) ELD systems fleet management systems and safety monitoring tools.
- Excellent organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior team management is a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DOT Compliance Certification or similar training is a plus.
- Prior experience managing or supporting Class A or B driver fleets.
- Knowledge of OSHA and other transportation safety regulations. Warehouse or driving experience a plus.

Pay Range:
The annual salary range for this position is as follows:
$85000 to $100000 per year
Compensation for roles at Tobin varies based on factors such as office location role responsibilities relevant experience education and specific skill sets. As required by local law Tobin provides a reasonable goodfaith compensation range for positions hired in Massachusetts. Actual pay will reflect jobrelated qualifications geographic considerations and other applicable factors.
