About the role

Newcastle Private Hospitalis seeking Assistants in Midwifery with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering high quality patient care to join our Maternity Ward on a permanent basis.

Come and join our expert team of surgeons specialist doctors dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private are a 189 bed acute private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospitalhas11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.

Our private maternity suite including6 birthing suites and a freshly renovated special care baby nursery isavailable for families across the Newcastle region and is renowned for exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist nursesmidwives or hospital staff in carrying out patient care duties
  • Work as part of the health care team; practice in accordance with state legislation and within the designated scope of practice
  • Answering patient/visitor/customer enquiries
  • Provide direct care to women and their families within the AIM scope of practice and level of experience
  • Will ensure women are supported through all phases of pregnancy labour and birth and the postnatal period

Essential Criteria:

  • Successful completion of Year 1 of Bachelor of Midwifery
  • Current enrolment and ongoing progress in the Bachelor of Midwifery course with a satisfactory academic record maintained.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent ability to plan and prioritise work
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility to manage shift work (including day & night shifts) over 7 days
