The role leads on designing implementing overseeing and coordinating directorate governance and risk management processes ensuring reports are up to date accurate and comply with Transport Scotland and Scottish Government corporate policies and that these support the successful delivery of directorate activities.
There is currently no line management responsibilities within this role however the postholder may be required to undertake line management duties at a later date.
Lead the implementation monitoring and continuous improvement of governance and compliance procedures across the Directorates transformation programme ensuring alignment with Transport Scotland and Scottish Government frameworks.
Support the establishment development and maintenance of governance structures and processes across the wider Transport Sector in Scotland contributing to sector-wide consistency accountability and good practice to ensure the delivery of the Directorates transformation programme and shared vision.
Ensure policies operations and programmes delivered within the Directorate and through the delivery of our vision comply with legal procedural and technological standards providing expert advice and assurance.
Act as lead for GDPR and data protection compliance across the Directorate managing sensitive data and information assets including contributions to the Transport Scotland Information Asset Register.
Maintain and update the Directorate Risk Register ensuring risks are identified assessed and managed in line with Transport Scotlands risk management framework.
Develop and maintain processes to record and measure Directorate performance monitoring progress against business objectives and supporting reporting to senior management Ministers and external stakeholders where appropriate.
Provide secretariat support for Directorate board meetings programme boards and stakeholder engagement activities as required ensuring accurate records and effective coordination.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Directorate and in our liaison with internal and external stakeholders identifying opportunities to enhance governance compliance and operational effectiveness.
Provide support and resilience across the corporate team including acting as a liaison point for governance-related queries and undertaking duties commensurate with grade.
The ability to understand strategic drivers align work to organisational priorities proactively horizon scan for emerging issues and use insights from diverse sources to provide credible advice and reports that support informed decision-making at senior levels.
