Position Summary:
Client is seeking an experienced Tools Engineer to design develop and maintain internal tooling that supports our software development and delivery processes. This role emphasizes automation scripting CI/CD pipeline maintenance security integration for services and infrastructure and reliability of test framework infrastructure.
The Tools Engineer will work closely with QA DevX and IT teams to improve build and test framework stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Tools Development & Automation:
Develop and maintain internal tools to automate development testing and deployment workflows.
Create and maintain automation scripts to streamline repetitive engineering and operational tasks.
Develop reusable tooling components to support multiple teams and projects.
Test Infrastructure Reliability:
Maintain and improve the reliability and performance of test framework infrastructure.
Support automated testing environments and ensure consistent test execution across pipelines.
Diagnose and resolve issues impacting test stability availability or performance.
Security & Compliance initiatives:
Maintain the TaaS teams managed infrastructure up to date with security aspects.
Continuously improve infrastructure and processes for efficiency and reliability.
Monitoring and Optimization:
Monitor system performance and availability making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal operation.
Analyze system metrics and logs to identify and resolve potential issues proactively.
Collaboration and Documentation:
Work closely with development QA and IT teams to align infrastructure with application requirements.
Document processes configurations and troubleshooting steps to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
Provide support and guidance to team members on DevOps best practices and tools.
Skills:
Proven experience as a Platform or Tools Engineer.
Strong hands-on scripting using python and good with linux systems.
Good expertise with VMware including vSphere ESXi and related technologies.
Good troubleshooting skills across build systems pipelines and containerized environments.
Knowledge of CI/CD tools e.g. Jenkins
Education:
Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field
6 years of total experience in productivity engineering or a related field
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
