OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION

Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) is the division responsible for managing the Banks key international client relationships and main financing products (Syndication Structured & Project Finance Securitisation Working Capital Solutions ECA financing etc.).

The role sits within the Strategy and Business Reporting (SBR) Team ultimately reporting into the GCIB EMEA COO.

NUMBER OF DIRECT REPORTS

  • Whilst there are nil direct reports as part of the role the successful candidate would be responsible for managing Deal Screening minute takers who are typically GCIB graduates.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The Strategy & Business Reporting (SBR) Team is responsible for managing the EMEA GCIB Deal Screening Committee (DSC) which forms the first and critical stage of MUFGs credit approval process. Deal Screening ensures disciplined balancesheet deployment and liquidity management across all new and renewal business. The Committee convenes twice weekly with an initial morning session (AM without Front Office attendance) followed by an afternoon session (PM) focused on more complex proposals that require Front Office participation. Decisions are made by a Quorum of senior GCIB leaders.
  • The successful candidate will play a central role in overseeing the endtoend DSC process. Key responsibilities include:
    • Managing and maintaining the DSC booking template and coordinating partner reviews.
    • Ensuring Quorum availability and supporting effective session planning.
    • Capturing accurate minutes from the morning DSC session and providing clear guidance to Front Office teams ahead of afternoon presentations.
    • Delivering analytics on DSC throughput performance trends and followup actions.
  • While Deal Screening will be the primary focus the role will also support broader SBR deliverables including adhoc analysis and ownership of other recurring reporting responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

EndtoEnd Management of the Deal Screening Committee (DSC)

  • Manage and maintain the DSC booking template ensuring deal submissions are complete and ready for review.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure Quorum availability for all DSC sessions.
  • Organise and run twiceweekly DSC meetings including both the AM review session and the PM presentation session.
  • Act as the DSC Secretariat ensuring all required documentation papers and materials are distributed on time.
  • Manage PM minute-takers made up of GCIB graduates and/or high performing juniors.

2. Minutes Actions and Communications

  • Capture clear and accurate minutes from the AM session including key discussion points conditions and required followup actions.
  • Provide guidance to Front Office teams preparing for PM presentations highlighting areas of focus raised by the Quorum.
  • Track coordinate and follow up on Action Points with stakeholders to ensure timely closure.
  • Communicate DSC outcomes decisions and next steps to Deal Teams and Business Support.

3. Data Analytics and Reporting

  • Produce regular analytics covering DSC throughput approval trends sector patterns and escalation themes.
  • Support GCIB management with insights derived from DSC data to inform business strategy and portfolio steering.
  • Maintain reporting dashboards and contribute to broader GCIB governance materials and management information.
  • Support audits and internal reviews by providing process documentation evidence and data extracts.

4. Governance Controls and Documentation

  • Maintain and update DSC Guidelines Terms of Reference and supporting procedural documents.
  • Ensure compliance with MUFG control frameworks around deal intake approval workflows documentation standards and data quality.
  • Support enhancements to DSC processes systems and controls in partnership with SBR leadership and the Quorum.

5. Broader Strategy & Business Reporting Support

  • Contribute to GCIB pipeline forecasting management information and strategic reporting.
  • Support CHub data integrity efforts including validation issue tracking and process improvement.
  • Deliver adhoc analysis commentary and reporting as requested by senior management.

6. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong working relationships with Quorum members Deal Teams regional offices and crossfunctional partners.
  • Ensure consistent communication transparency and alignment across all stakeholders involved in the DSC process.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Some experience in a structured environment through parttime work voluntary roles school projects or similar activities
  • Experience completing tasks to deadlines and following defined instructions
  • Experience working with others demonstrating teamwork and reliability
  • Experience handling basic numerical or written tasks with accuracy


Preferred:

  • Experience in an office customer service or administrative role
  • Experience working with data spreadsheets or simple reporting tasks
  • Experience contributing to group projects where organisation and communication were important
  • Experience showing responsibility such as managing activities mentoring younger students or supporting events

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Basic proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing software
  • Ability to analyse information and identify key points
  • Good organisational skills and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to learn new systems and follow procedural steps
  • Strong English language communication skills written and spoken

Preferred:

  • Experience working with large data sets or performing simple analysis
  • Exposure to business economics finance or similar subjects through school or work experience
  • Familiarity with producing reports or summaries

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • A-Level or equivalent qualifications or equivalent work experience

Preferred:

  • Additional coursework or certificates in business economics finance mathematics or information technology
