About the role

Permanent Full Time Brisbane (Hybrid)

The Policy and Advocacy Advisor (Queensland Branch) play a pivotal role in leading and delivering mental health advocacy in Queensland. Reporting to the Manager Policy Branches and working closely with the Branch Chair and Committee this role is responsible for the design coordination and delivery of targeted advocacy campaigns that influence decision-makers shape policy outcomes and raise the profile of the College.

This is a highly outward-facing role that requires demonstrated experience developing and implementing advocacy strategies and campaigns in complex policy environments. You will identify advocacy opportunities develop clear and compelling messages target and engage key decision-makers and work with members partners and stakeholders to build momentum for policy change.

The role requires a strong understanding of Australian politics and public policy excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with government sector organisations and the broader community. You will be comfortable taking campaigns from concept through to delivery adapting tactics in response to the political environment and maintaining a clear focus on achieving tangible outcomes.

  • Experience in public policy and advocacy ideally within a health mental health or social policy context with a genuine commitment to improving mental health outcomes.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver strategic advocacy campaigns that are grounded in evidence values and meaningful engagement.
  • A collaborative approach to working with members committees and stakeholders supporting shared priorities and collective action to influence policy change.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to bring people together around clear compelling advocacy objectives.
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship or valid Australian work rights.

Some of whats on offer:

  • $90000 to $100000 Super 12% Salary Packaging (up to $15899 for general living expenses and up to $2650 for meal entertainment) commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Hybrid working model (2 days in the office 3 days working from home). Remote applications will also be considered from candidates based in QLD who are not within commuting distance of the office.
  • 37.5-hour week plus a paid day off each month.
  • 12 weeks of gender-neutral paid parental leave.
