The Production & Inventory Control Manager is responsible for planning coordinating and optimizing all aspects of production scheduling and inventory management within an industrial generator manufacturing environment. This role ensures that production targets are met materials are available when needed and inventory levels are maintained to support customer demand and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a people leader with experience in heavy manufacturing a strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and manage production plans aligned with demand forecasts and capacity constraints.
Coordinate with engineering procurement and manufacturing teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials fabricated parts and purchased components.
Oversee inventory control processes including receiving storage cycle counting and reconciliation of high-value and long-lead-time components (e.g. engines alternators control panels).
Monitor and adjust production plans based on capacity constraints material availability and customer delivery requirements.
Lead the implementation and optimization of ERP/MRP systems to improve planning accuracy and inventory visibility.
Analyze inventory trends and production performance metrics to identify and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
Collaborate with quality and operations teams to ensure compliance with ISO standards and customer specifications.
Implement lean practices to improve space utilization and material flow.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production planning inventory accuracy and supply chain responsiveness.
Ensure safety quality and regulatory compliance in all production and inventory control activities.
Create and maintain a PFEP database that includes part dimensions storage locations packaging requirements delivery frequency and supplier details.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Industrial Engineering Operations or related field.
5 years of experience in production planning and inventory control in a heavy manufacturing environment (preferably power generation electrical equipment or industrial machinery).
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in materials management warehouse operations
1-2 years of hands-on experience with PFEP implementation or maintenance is highly beneficial. This includes:
Building and managing PFEP databases
Collaborating with cross-functional teams (procurement production logistics)
Using PFEP to drive lean initiatives and material flow optimization
Strong experience with SAP ERP/MRP systems
Familiarity with lean manufacturing just-in-time (JIT) and demand-driven planning principles.
Excellent analytical organizational and communication skills.
APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
