Job Title: Cost Estimator (Electrical & Substation)

Location: Raleigh NC - Hybrid: 2 Days at Office/ 3 Days at Remote

Duration : 6 Months -Temp to Hire Opportunity! (Depending on performance and business need)

As an Electrical Substation Cost Estimator youll play a pivotal role in transforming engineering plans into real-world projects. Youll work alongside passionate experts using cutting-edge tools and your own industry insight to bring precision and clarity to every stage of construction planning. This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds-collaborate in person at our Raleigh office at least two days per week and enjoy the flexibility of remote work the rest of the time. Job Description:

Review and interpret engineering plans with accuracy.

Perform and document detailed quantity takeoffs for civil works building construction high and low voltage electrical and mechanical installation.

Develop unit costs using industry standards for labor equipment and materials.

Estimate construction costs from engineering drawings and specs.

Provide budget estimates for electrical substations.

Use estimates to support construction scheduling.

Evaluate subcontractor pricing and change requests.

Maintain and contribute to the Hitachi Energy construction cost database.

Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations procedures and guidelines.

Your background

5 years of experience in construction cost estimating preferably in electrical substations.

Education related with quantity surveying construction management or related field preferred. Or a combination of education and experience.

Proficiency with estimating software such as Prost or ProEst.

Strong understanding of industry labor equipment and material cost standards.

Experience assessing subcontractor bids and change orders.

Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
