OUR MISSION
The Fifth Louisiana Levee Districts primary purpose is maintaining levees along the Mississippi River. The district includes portions of East Carroll Madison Tensas and Concordia Parishes. The total length of the levee system is 355 miles 213.8 miles of mainline levee and 93.1 miles of Red River backwater levee 14.9 miles of back line levees and Approximately 6.3 miles of spur levees. The height and width of the Mississippi River Levee and Berm system withing the Fifth Louisiana Levee District make It the largest Levee District in the state in total number of surface acres to maintain.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Responsible for operating and maintaining heavy construction and earth-moving equipment to support levee construction inspection repair and flood-control operations. This role plays a hands-on part in protecting communities and infrastructure by ensuring levee systems remain safe functional and resilient.
Key Competencies for Success:- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers excavators loaders and graders
- Strong understanding of safety procedures equipment maintenance and job-site protocols
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions
- Dependability attention to detail and teamwork in a mission-critical environment
- Willingness to respond during emergency or high-water events when needed
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in mobile equipment operations.
