About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by providing effective planning coordination and delivery of all allocated City of Hobart events as well as support to external event organisers.

As part of the Creative City Group within the Community and Economic Development Network you will play an important role in delivering high quality safe and vibrant events that support community engagement and activation across Hobart.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Plan and coordinate the technical operational and production tasks for allocated City of Hobart events.
  • Organise performers contractors and other workers on event sites making sure all parts of the event are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and manage event documents such as signage plans production schedules emergency plans pedestrian and traffic plans and site plans.
  • Ensure all staff and contractors work safely and follow Council WHS policies and legal requirements.
  • Work closely with team members to plan and deliver events and activations.
  • Provide event-related support to grant applicants and assist the Community Development Officer (Grants).
  • Manage event equipment signage event kits and other resources including inventory maintenance storage and hire.
  • Liaise with internal and external stake holders regarding the delivery pick up and return of the City of Hobarts events assets.
  • Support event organisers by giving accurate information on operational needs risk and emergency management traffic requirements place of assembly rules and City event permits.
  • Coordinate the setup and installation of City-owned event spaces including maintenance stocktake and storage of equipment.
  • Support other units within the City of Hobart to deliver their events activations and community engagements.

About you

You are an organised and solutions focused event professional who thrives in fast paced environments. Your experience in event production operations risk management and on site delivery enables you to manage multiple complex activities with confidence. You communicate clearly collaborate effectively and build positive working relationships with contractors performers colleagues and a wide range of community stakeholders.

You are prepared to work outside normal business hours when required and you understand that this is a handson role that frequently involves the physical set up transport and storage of the City of Hobarts event assets.

You take pride in delivering safe and engaging public experiences and bring a high level of professionalism initiative and autonomy to your work.

What youll bring:

  • Bachelor Degree or Associate Diploma in Event Management or equivalent experience.
  • Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
  • Current Driver Licence.
  • Event experience.
  • Safety and emergency knowledge.
  • Building event sites.
  • Working independently and under pressure.
  • Team coordination.
  • Communication and problem-solving.
  • Numerical skills
