POSITION SUMMARY: The ASC Urology RN is responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing care of patients undergoing surgical intervention. The RN provides planned skilled nursing care for patients in the critical preoperative and postoperative periods. The RN provides assessment patient surveillance and timely administration of physicians orders to prepare patients for procedures. The RN provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of medical or surgical complications that may arise in any postoperative patient and will determine that the patient is suitable for discharge. The RN is also responsible for providing the patients and family members with an additional opportunity for education and review of the postoperative instructions. The staff RN is directly responsible to the Nurse Manager. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation certificate from an accredited RN program and current state licensure required. ACLS certification required. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and should possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and to provide the care needed based on the departments policies and procedures. Pre-Op/Post-Op IV Conscious Sedation experience SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday four ten hour shifts
