Job Summary
Join our Kapital Platform Engineering team and help shape the future of trading technology at one of the worlds leading financial institutions. Youll work on Kapitalour sophisticated trade and risk management platform that powers $4 billion in Global Rates trading decisions daily.
Were in the midst of an exciting modernization journey migrating to cutting-edge infrastructure and transforming how we deliver technology solutions. As a Software Engineer III youll be a key contributor to this transformation working with unique technologies including Smalltalk (yes really!) alongside modern tools and practices including Python C and shell scripting.
Job responsibilities
- Solve complex technical challenges by designing and building innovative solutions that go beyond conventional approaches
- Own your code from conception to productionwrite secure high-quality software and shepherd it through its entire lifecycle
- Shape our technical architecture by creating design artifacts for complex changes and ensuring development meets our quality standards
- Turn data into action by analyzing patterns across diverse datasets and using insights to continuously improve our systems
- Be a technical detectivespot hidden problems and patterns before they become issues driving improvements to code quality and system design
- Learn and share by engaging with our engineering communities exploring emerging technologies and bringing fresh ideas to the team
- Build an inclusive culture by contributing to our teams commitment to diversity equity inclusion and respect
Required qualifications capabilities and skills
- Strong object-oriented programming skills (we value clean maintainable code)
- Applied software engineering experience in a corporate environment
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
- Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile practices
- Hands-on experience with automated testing CI/CD application resiliency and security
- Proficiency with version control systems particularly Git
- Experience developing debugging and maintaining code across the full-stack
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent professional experience
Preferred qualifications capabilities and skills
- Smalltalk experience (but if youre a strong OOP developer eager to learn well teach you!)
- RedHat Linux experience
- Windows development experience with tools like IntelliJ IDEA
- API development experience (REST OpenAPI)
- Cloud platform knowledge (AWS)
- Python Java or shell scripting skills
- Familiarity with Jira project management tooling
- Experience with wiki-based documentation systems like Confluence
