Job Summary

This position assists the full-time Public Works staff in general grounds and building care activities involving the performance of manual labor which often involves physically demanding work. Must be 17 yrs old and possess a valid non-probationary WI drivers license.

Essential Job Functions

Assist in maintenance of city streets and stormwater pond and drainage areas.
Maintain City streets including crack filling spray patching and filling potholes.
Traffic sign installation and traffic control painting.
Mowing weed whipping and lawn care in parks around City buildings and on City properties.
Weed control and herbicide applications for weed and control of invasive vegetation.
Keep storm retention ponds and waterways clean of trash weeds and debris. Clean storm water inlets.

Requirements of Work

Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions usually acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
Requires a valid non-probationary Wisconsin Drivers License.
Must be at least 19 years of age if operating power equipment
Knowledge of materials methods techniques and equipment used in landscaping/ grounds maintenance is preferred.
Knowledge of operation safety and efficient use of maintenance of tools equipment and vehicles is preferred.
