Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peds Test and Treatment Registered Nurse (RN) to join our pediatric team. This part-time role is ideal for a nurse who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient-centered pediatric care in a dynamic clinical environment.
Position Details:
Key Responsibilities
- Involve patients and/or significant others in care decisions and education.
- Assess and document patient and family learning needs during admission and ongoing assessments in the computerized care plan.
- Develop and document an individualized plan of care including nursing diagnoses interventions goals/outcomes and target dates.
- Perform safe and effective patient handoffs using SBAR bedside report and other approved patientsafety tools.
- Maintain clear and timely communication following chain-of-command when appropriate.
- Communicate objective and subjective patient data with the multidisciplinary team.
- Stay informed through unit huddles email updates and department communications.
- Participate in physician rounding and communicate pertinent clinical findings.
- Engage in process improvement efforts including data collection meetings and in-services.
- Complete hospital-required competencies mandatory training and certifications (BLS ACLS PALS etc.) within required timelines.
- Utilize evidence-based practice and share relevant literature with the team.
- Participate in programs projects and activities that support professional development.
- Follow all departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate accountability in resolving patient-care or operational issues.
- Participate in committees special projects or serve as preceptor when requested.
- Delegate tasks to LPNs and unlicensed care providers according to competency and scope.
- Engage in annual peer-review activities.
- Complete patient rounding according to departmental guidelines.
- Interpret and utilize diagnostic laboratory and monitoring data appropriately.
- Take call weekend shifts or alternate shifts if required by department needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
Licensure
- Current RN license in the hiring state or compact license.
- Must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Experience
- Previous pediatric or acute care experience preferred (not required unless specified by unit).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push pull and/or lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Prolonged standing and walking each shift.
- Ability to grip reach bend kneel twist and squat to perform duties safely.
Required Certifications
- BLS Basic Life Support (AHA) required at hire or within 30 days.
Additional certifications may be required based on unit or obtained within department timeframes:
- ACLS
- NRP
- ENPC
- TNCC
- CPHON
- OCN
- PALS
- PEARS
- S.T.A.B.L.E.
- CEFM
- Other unit-specific certifications as needed
