The Department of Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a Professional-Track Faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction with the opportunity for promotion to Associate Professor and Professor of Instruction based on a sustained record of teaching and service and all university guidelines governing professional track faculty promotion. The position will begin in the Fall semester of the 202627 academic year. Duties will include teaching language courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels including courses on Akkadian Sumerian and other languages. Additional teaching responsibilities may be such as the Gateway and Capstone courses for our undergraduate majors. This position is well-suited for a candidate interested in a career devoted to teaching and general service to the university and is eligible for an initial three-year rolling contract.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures or a related field and substantial experience in teaching Akkadian. Preferred qualifications include advanced expertise in Linguistics and Comparative Semitics.
