Rate of Pay: 130.79 - 172.31 per day

Summary:

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is seeking a proactive Housing Options & Assessment Officer to deliver the innovative Homewise pilot project. This role is a field-based responsive position where you will work in partnership with a Social Worker to conduct urgent home visits to households facing eviction. The primary goal is to intervene directly within the community to prevent homelessness and where necessary support residents in achieving a planned and stable move.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement immediate intervention strategies to prevent homelessness and sustain existing tenancies wherever possible.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of household needs housing options and eligibility for support services.
  • Maintain a high level of mobility to travel across the borough at short notice often requiring same-day responses to urgent referrals.
  • Act as a bridge between housing services and social care to ensure a holistic person-centered approach to homelessness prevention.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of the Homewise pilot by maintaining accurate case records and reporting on intervention outcomes.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience in a housing options or homelessness prevention role ideally within a local authority setting.
  • Experience conducting home visits and delivering interventions to residents in high-stress environments or facing immediate crises.
  • Prior experience managing a caseload with a focus on achieving tangible outcomes for residents at risk of homelessness.
