About the Role

The Assistant Manager Quality is responsible for ensuring the safety reliability and performance of electrical systems and components with a strong focus on transformers and electrical panels used across Weir Minerals products and projects. The role emphasizes electrical testing validation compliance and structured problemsolving supporting both new and existing products throughout their lifecycle.

Working closely with engineering design production and sourcing teams the role contributes to early risk identification effective issue resolution and continuous improvement. This position is wellsuited for an experienced electrical professional who combines strong technical expertise with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to quality and safety.

Position Description & Requirements:

  • Ensure the safety reliability and performance of electrical systems and components with a strong focus on transformers and electrical panels.

  • Plan execute and support electrical testing and validation activities in line with applicable standards specifications and internal quality requirements.

  • Develop test plans analyse test results and prepare clear accurate technical reports.

  • Identify troubleshoot and resolve issues related to transformer and panel performance insulation protection and functionality.

  • Work closely with design engineering production and sourcing teams to identify risks early and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Support new product introductions and major project orders by ensuring testing readiness and quality compliance.

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for electrical quality issues and ensure sustainable closure.

  • Review quality and test data to identify trends improvement opportunities and risk areas.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as FMEA MSA Lean Six Sigma and PokaYoke where applicable.

  • Maintain and coordinate calibration of electrical testing equipment and instruments ensuring accuracy and reliability.

  • Participate in audits and support NCR closure related to electrical quality observations.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with quality systems and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety following Weir Group EHS and IMS policies at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute electrical testing and validation activities for transformers LT/HT panels control panels and related electrical systems.

  • Develop test plans analyse test results and prepare clear structured technical reports.

  • Identify troubleshoot and resolve issues related to transformer and panel performance insulation protection and functionality.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards safety regulations and internal quality requirements.

  • Support periodic validation of electrical items for new and existing products.

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for electrical quality issues.

  • Apply continuous improvement tools such as FMEA MSA Lean Six Sigma and PokaYoke as appropriate.

  • Analyse quality and test data to identify trends risks and improvement opportunities.

  • Work closely with design engineering production and sourcing teams to address quality risks early in the product lifecycle.

  • Support new product introductions and major project orders ensuring testing readiness for transformers and panels.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders and contribute to capability building.

  • Maintain and coordinate calibration of electrical testing equipment and instruments.

  • Ensure test setups and measurement systems are robust and fit for purpose.

  • Participate in audits and support NCR closure related to electrical quality observations.

  • Maintain accurate quality and testing documentation in line with company requirements.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Timely and effective periodic validation of electrical items in line with applicable standards and specifications.

  • Achievement of OnTime Supplier Readiness (OTSR) for development and newintroduction parts.

  • Successful evaluation and development of new suppliers to meet electrical quality and testing requirements.

  • Measurable reduction in DPPM for electrical components and systems.

  • Consistent improvement in quality performance across electrical equipment suppliers targeting 100% First Pass Yield (FPYR).

  • Successful execution of major project orders with 100% FPYR supported by effective electrical test setups at supplier locations.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Comply with Weir Group EHS Policy and WMI IMS Policy ensuring safety is integrated into all work activities.

  • Actively participate in safety trainings audits and safety events as per company standards.

  • Identify workplace hazards support risk assessments and ensure timely closure of identified safety risks.

  • Promote safe work practices and contribute to building a strong and proactive safety culture.

  • Demonstrate personal accountability for safety and encourage safe behaviors within teams and at partner locations.

Qualification :

  • B.E in Electrical and Electronics engineering

Experience:

  • 710 years of relevant experience in electrical quality testing validation or engineering roles.

  • Mandatory handson experience with transformers and electrical panels (LT/HT panels control panels or similar systems).

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems circuits protection schemes and testing methodologies.

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering or OEM environments is preferred.
