Unique opportunity for a Grade 3 Senior Clinician Physiotherapist to work in our Concussion Clinic.
THE DEPARTMENT
Alfred Healths Physiotherapy Department provides acute physiotherapy services to the patients of The Alfred and Sandringham Hospital and subacute physiotherapy services to Caulfield Hospital.
The acute physiotherapy service is organised into five functional streams namely: Intensive Care Musculoskeletal Respiratory PAN (Progressive Illness Aged Care and Neurosciences) and Sandringham. The first four streams are located at The Alfred site with the latter being based at the Sandringham site. The physiotherapy service provides acute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: intensive care cardiothoracic surgery general surgery orthopaedics trauma burns lung transplantation cystic fibrosis pulmonary rehabilitation neurology and neurosurgery infectious diseases haematology/oncology general medicine haemophilia and emergency.
The physiotherapy service at Caulfield Hospital provides an extensive range of inpatient and ambulatory services in the areas of rehabilitation aged care and residential care services. The physiotherapy service provides subacute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: neurology non-traumatic spinal cord injury orthopaedics amputees burns complex regional pain cardiac rehabilitation aged care transitional care and aged psychiatry. The physiotherapy department is organised into functional streams: Neurological Rehabilitation Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Health of Older Persons (HOP) and ABI. The subacute physiotherapy service is organised into four functional streams: Neurological Rehabilitation Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Health of Older Persons (HOP) and ABI.
The Alfred Health Physiotherapy Department has more than 100 EFT and employs over 170 staff. The physiotherapy service has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. It remains strongly committed to further pursuing excellence in physiotherapy through clinical research. The Alfred Health Physiotherapy Department is a major partner in the Alfred Health Physiotherapy Clinical Schools for both La Trobe and Monash Universities and in this role provides core and elective clinical placements for more than 50 undergraduate physiotherapy students
THE CONCUSSION CLINIC
The Alfred Health Concussion Clinic is based at Caulfield Hospital and provides an assessment and management service for people presenting with concussion. The interdisciplinary clinic consists of a Neurologist Occupational therapist Physiotherapist Speechpathologistand Psychologist.

The service is underpinned by a culture of patient safety excellence in service delivery and continuous quality improvement using current and emerging evidence in clinical practice. An active research program will underpin theservice model ensuring ongoing service evaluation and the development of new evidence and translation intopractice.
THE ROLE
The Senior Clinician Physiotherapist (Concussion Clinic)is responsible forthe ongoing development and provision ofphysiotherapy services to patients with concussion. The role provides leadership into the development of a collaborativeinterdisciplinary clinicapproach; to achieveoptimalpatient care and outcomes with minimised clinicalrisk.
The Senior Clinician Physiotherapist (Concussion Clinic)is responsible forleading and providing expert input into quality improvement and/or research activities in the relevant area. They lead a culture of ongoing learning and development in the team and provide supervision and mentoring to junior physiotherapistsstudentsand allied health assistants where work autonomously and are a clinical leader in their field for internal and external stakeholders.
As a member of the Neurological Rehabilitation Physiotherapy stream the positionmay also berequiredto providePhysiotherapy services into other relevant clinical areas in collaboration with the stream leader and PhysiotherapyManager.
The Senior Clinician Physiotherapist (Concussion Clinic) hasan important rolecontributing to the development ofindividuals the clinical team and the physiotherapy service through good leadershipteamworkandcommunication.
