As a Senior Data Modeller you will champion the enterprise data modelling practice working closely with Data & Analytics teams (Data Analysts Scientists and Data Engineers) technology teams and business stakeholders across the organization. You will own the enterprise data model strategy and architecture establishing modelling standards and best practices that drive self-service analytics and promote standardization across all business domains. This senior role provides technical direction to Domain Data Modellers and serves as the authoritative subject matter expert for data modelling across the enterprise.
The core responsibilities of this role will be:
- Drive strategy design and evolution of enterprise data models and data marts.
- Optimize data architecture and query performance in cloud data warehouse environments.
- Define and enforce enterprise-wide data modelling standards and methodologies.
- Maintain modelling artifacts and frameworks to ensure consistency and quality.
- Collaborate with Data Governance and Infrastructure teams on security and compliance.
- Guide Domain Data Modellers to align with enterprise architecture.
- Partner with business and analytics teams to define data requirements and modelling rules.
- Translate complex business processes into scalable data structures.
- Enhance cloud data warehouse operational data stores and metadata models.
- Work with structured semi-structured and unstructured data to derive insights.
- Operate autonomously at a senior level to mitigate project risks.
To be considered key skills will include:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Data Management or related field required
- Cloud data platform certifications beneficial
- 7 years hands-on experience with RDBMS platforms (e.g. SQL Server Oracle Teradata etc.) relational and dimensional modelling in enterprise environments with demonstrated leadership in data modelling practice
- Proven experience owning enterprise data architecture with responsibility for cross-functional data models and standards governance
- Strong experience with modern cloud data platform environments (e.g. Snowflake Databricks or similar) and data transformation frameworks (e.g. dbt) mandatory
- Deep expertise in fact-dimensional modelling approaches and star/snowflake schema design patterns mandatory
- Expert knowledge of metadata management data modelling and related tools (e.g. Erwin or ER Studio SQL and/or PL/SQL) mandatory
- Strong experience with modern cloud data platforms and data transformation frameworks
- Deep expertise in dimensional modelling star schema and snowflake schema design
- Ability to utilize Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI or similar) to represent insights and validate data structures
