As a Commodity Specialist Chemicals you will manage and respond swiftly to customer enquiries related to commodity chemicals ensuring that all quotations are complete competitive and aligned with customer requirements and market conditions.

Supplying marine consumables products and solutions to every conceivable vessel type our Marine Products division includes the Unitor brand of products Timm ropes Unicool refrigerants and Unitor and Nalfleet marine chemicals. Last year we made product deliveries to 27500 vessels at over 2000 ports.

Who you will report to:

You will report to the Commercial Manager and work closely with Sales Customer Service Procurement Inventory and external business partners across the SEAME region. This role is established as a dedicated New Growth resource for SEAME focused on driving expansion within the commodity chemicals segment.

What you will be doing:

Enquiry Management

  • Handle incoming enquiries with urgency and professionalism

  • Assess feasibility and prepare tailored competitive quotations aligned with pricing strategy and market dynamics

  • Liaise with local agents and business partners to determine optimal delivery solutions in compliance with local regulations

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong long-term customer relationships

  • Proactively follow up on open enquiries to improve conversion rates

  • Gather feedback to continuously improve service quality and customer satisfaction

Business Partner Management

  • Develop and maintain strong supplier and partner relationships to secure optimal pricing and service levels

  • Identify and onboard new partners to strengthen sourcing options and reduce risk

Market Intelligence & Growth

  • Monitor market trends pricing fluctuations and competitor activity

  • Provide commercial insights and growth recommendations to the Commercial Manager

  • Contribute actively to expanding the chemicals portfolio and securing new business

Systems Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely updates of enquiries quotations and orders in CRM/ERP systems

  • Track orders from quotation through to delivery in accordance with SOPs (GIMS)

  • Generate reports on conversion rates supplier performance and revenue realization

  • Maintain full compliance with internal mandates and processes

What you bring to this role:

  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance competitiveness and profitability

  • A proactive solutions-oriented approach to handling varied and complex enquiries

  • Ability to think outside the box to structure deals and overcome operational challenges

  • Strong stakeholder management skills across customers agents and suppliers

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in quoting and documentation

  • Ability to remain composed and effective in a fast-paced environment

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Shipping or a related field (preferred)

  • Prior experience in a similar role within the shipping or marine industry

  • Proven track record managing enquiries quotations and supplier relationships

  • Strong understanding of shipping port operations and commodity pricing dynamics

  • Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and pricing evaluation skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities

  • Proficiency in Salesforce (or similar CRM systems) and MS Office

  • Effective time management with the ability to manage multiple enquiries simultaneously

  • Strong collaboration skills within a matrix organization

  • High resilience and adaptability
