Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe DBA (7 years) to provide 24x7 enterprise database administration and operational support for mainframe database environments. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in performance tuning troubleshooting database maintenance and operational support for on-premise mainframe platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 24x7 production support with rotational shifts and on-call responsibilities.
Administer monitor and maintain mainframe databases such as DB2 for z/OS IMS VSAM IDMS in production and non-production environments.
Implement and manage backup recovery performance tuning high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
Perform health checks identify performance bottlenecks and optimize database configurations and queries.
Automate routine operations using mainframe utilities JCL REXX Python Shell scripting and scheduling tools.
Manage database security access controls compliance and audit requirements.
Execute database patching upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams for deployments and issue resolution.
Perform incident management root cause analysis and documentation.
Maintain documentation operational procedures and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT or related field.
7 years DBA experience managing mainframe databases (DB2 z/OS IMS VSAM IDMS etc.).
Strong understanding of mainframe database architecture performance tuning scaling partitioning and throughput optimization.
Expertise in scripting (JCL REXX Python Shell) and automation tools.
Experience with HA/DR strategies replication backup and recovery.
Knowledge of database monitoring tools such as Dynatrace Azure Monitor Nagios.
Experience supporting cloud migrations or hybrid environments (Azure/GCP preferred).
Strong understanding of database security compliance and auditing practices.
Proven experience in database upgrades patching and migrations.
Excellent troubleshooting communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Mainframe DBA certifications.
Experience with modernization or migration projects (mainframe to distributed/cloud platforms).
Exposure to cloud database platforms (Azure GCP).
Experience with automation tools such as PowerShell Ansible Terraform Shell scripting.
Familiarity with additional mainframe technologies such as CICS IMS VSAM.

Required Skills and Experience Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field. 7 years of hands-on experience as a DBA managing Mainframe database environments(e.g. IBM DB2 for z/OS IMS VSAM IDMS. etc) In-depth knowledge of Maintenance DB architecture scaling global distribution partitioning consistency models and throughput management. Strong scripting and database troubleshooting skills. Proactively analyze and optimize database performancetuning queries indexes and configurations. Enforce security best practices including authentication access control data encryption and compliance monitoring Proficiency with Mainframe utilities JCL scripting (REXX Python or other) and automation tools. Support cloud database deployments migrations and upgrades within Azure and GCP environments Automate and optimize routine operational tasks using scripting (Python shell scripting IaC etc) and Azure automation tools. Deep knowledge of high availability (HA) replication backup/recovery and failover strategies for Mainframe. Experience with database monitoring tools - Dynatrace Azure Monitor Nagios etc and automation frameworks such as Ansible and Terraform . Solid understanding of database security best practices. Proven experience with patching upgrading and migrating databases. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operations setting. Ability to support DB audit requirements and license management. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Required Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
