To process embed cut and stain human tissue. Staining includes routine and special stains. This job profile may require call subject to the departments discretion.Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Degree (Associates or Bachelors) with one (1) year of experience in histopathology.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to properly orient embed and cut tissue using microtome and cryostat. Understanding of tissue processing. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members. Computer and related software application skills. Ability to maintain accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Orients and embeds tissue in paraffin per standardized methods. Freezes orients embeds and cuts fresh tissue.
- Uses microtome and/or cryostat to perform microtome on tissue specimens to exacting measures of acceptability. Files cassettes.
- Performs routine and special stains.
- Labels and distributes slides to pathologists. Files slides.
- Performs and documents equipment maintenance and quality control measures.
- Ensures compliance with safety environmental and/or infection control standards.
