PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Maintain the district plumbing and piping systems. Provide students and staff with
a safe functional and attractive learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification: Training in the plumbing field Valid Texas drivers license Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of plumbing construction and maintenance ability to recognize and diagnose plumbing malfunctions Operate hand and power tools Operate mechanical equipment Background in plumbing repair and maintenance plumbing codes and laws Experience: Two years experience in plumbing and related work |
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- 1. Support the educational goals of the district.
- Accept and complete plumbing work orders and assignments from campus facilities.
- Assist with the maintenance and inventory of district plumbing supplies.
- Inspect district facilities and equipment for proper operation and safety.
- Upgrade skills and training to meet new requirements.
- Work with outside contractors and architects to facilitate district projects.
- Coordinate the ordering of plumbing supplies ordered by the Purchasing Department.
- 8. Assist other maintenance areas in repairs and installations.
- Advise on replacement repair modification of district equipment.
- Work with boiler inspectors in testing/surveying district equipment.
- Check test and repair sprinkler systems.
- Preform preventive maintenance on plumbing fixtures and equipment.
- Able to work possible nights and weekends / call-outs as needed.
- Regular attendance; must be willing and able to report to work at designated site on a regular daily basis according to established work schedule.
- Comply with district and departmental policies and procedures.
- Follow district policy concerning uniforms.
- Must be able to perform all responsibilities and duties of the job.
- Perform other duties and maintenance activities as assigned by the supervisor.

Hand tools sewer augers ladders hydraulic lift electric drills electric saws welding equipment operate motor vehicle gasoline and electric pumps ditcher/trencher/back hoe
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands:
Communicate using verbal and written means; maintain emotional control under stress; make appropriate choices in emergency situations; expedite completion of several tasks/projects at the same time; maintain skills in several mechanical areas
Physical Demands:
Climbing climbing ladders/scaffolds heavy lifting crawling perform laborious tasks driving walking balancing
Environmental Factors:
Exposure to extremes of heat and cold; bacterial exposure; slippery uneven surfacesworks in water; sunlight exposure; exposure to dusts; works around machinery with moving parts; prolonged/irregular hours.
