Job Summary

Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches is a multi-location medical practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the bodys musculoskeletal system. Our locations feature a staff of highly trained orthopedic surgeons each with a specific area of expertise.

Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches offers a team approach to your care and provides a variety of services right on campus designed for your convenience and ensuring an outstanding continuum of care. These include on-site X-ray on-site MRI on-site physical therapy and aquatic therapy.

As Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches continues to grow we are looking for a Medical Assistant (Bilingual Spanish). Please see below for the functions and requirements for this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider during patient care:
    • Collect and shares pertinent information with the provider
    • Receives and acts on directives from the provider
  • Responsible for preparing the patient for visit with the provider. Duties include but are not limited to rooming patients obtaining and documenting vitals reviewing intake paperwork pulling up radiology images removing dressing procedure set-up injection prep accurate data entry into EMR.
  • Responsible for completing tasks associated with Company initiatives such as PROs Quality Payment Programs etc.
  • Maintains exam room standards. Rooms should be restocked at the end of each clinic day. Rooms and tables should be cleaned as needed during clinic and at the end of each day.
  • Monitor biohazard and sharps containers and replace as needed.
  • Assist the provider in preparing patient prescriptions and completing medical and patient forms (i.e. work release FMLA etc.).
  • Retrieves and responds to voicemails within 24 business hours and documents actions in EMR.
  • Prepares patient electronic charts for clinic visits prior to the date of service.
  • Verify any outstanding testing results are in EMR confirm the appropriateness of the patient to the provider (body part and/or insurance) note imaging DME or casting needed prior to provider visit on the date of service.
  • Scans clinical documents into EMR.
  • Print clinic schedules on the morning of the date of service.
  • Ensures patient receives education as indicated by the provider.
  • Manages EMR desktops of assigned providers in a timely manner.
  • Create and promote a positive patient experience

  • Maintain clean workspace
  • Must be Bilingual-Spanish
  • Must be willing to travel to Jupiter and Port St. Lucie

EDUCATION

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

EXPERIENCE

  • Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

EDUCATION

  • Medical Assistant certificate of completion from an accredited program or LPN license

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the health care field.
  • General knowledge of patient care in a clinic.
  • Knowledge of back office skills.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality state laws HIPAA regulations and medical records procedures.

SKILLS

  • Professionalism when interacting with providers co-workers patients family members and the public.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment
  • Frequent travel to different clinic locations within the community.
  • Some travel within the State

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Standard clinic environment.
  • Some travel within the community.
  • Some bending and stretching are required.
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
