CERTIFIED JOB CLASSIFICATION
POSITION TITLE: ARMY JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CADET (JROTC)
INSTRUCTOR
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Arkansas teaching certification permit for JROTC
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide students the leadership and experience needed to make wise and
satisfying occupational and career choices.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teach JROTC classes by tailoring course content to meet school district needs.
2. Develop lesson plans. Administer tests/evaluation.
3. Maintain proficiency in subject area.
4. Coordinate guest speakers.
5. Requisition text books work books and other course materials annually.
6. Develop weekly and monthly training plan.
7. Submit annual training schedule to Cadet Command.
8. Conduct leadership academy with prior approval for students scheduled to occupy leadership positions.
9. Participate with prior approval in various activities including but not limited to the following:
color guardteams student drill teams marksmanship team and military ball.
10. Arrange transportation for teams to meets and competitions.
11. Coordinate promotion and awards ceremonies.
12. Serve as a point of contact for JROTC scholarship information.
13. Maintain school and district procedures and policies.
14. Supervise students in all activities.
15. Secure all school district and Army equipment.
16. Issue equipment and uniforms to students.
17. Maintain inventory of equipment uniforms and supplies.
18. Provide strict supervision of students when the non-operational drill weapons and
the air rifles are beingused.
19. Coordinate pre enrollment activities for JROTC.
20. Work closely with high school and junior high school counselors.
21. Coordinate summer camp attendance and arrange transportation.
22. Escort students with prior approval to summer camp.
23. Conduct training with prior approval at summer camp.
24. Coordinate/integrate JROTC activities with other departments within the high school.
25. Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule (Placement depends upon education and experience.)
Length of Contract: 244 days per contract year
