IT Software Developer – Java Developer – CGI Malaysia (Client Engagement)

Position Description:

CGI Malaysia is seeking a Java Developer to design develop and support enterprise-grade applications for a client. You will build well-structured performant and maintainable Java solutions collaborate across teams and contribute to testing releases and continuous improvement.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

1) Software Development & Maintenance

. Design develop test and maintain Java-based software applications.
. Write clean efficient and well-documented code; follow secure coding and quality standards.
. Analyze business and user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

2) Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

. Troubleshoot debug and resolve application defects and performance issues.
. Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement activities.
. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time.

3) Delivery Practices

. Contribute to automated testing and build/deployment practices (unit tests CI/CD pipelines) where applicable.
. Work with databases and integrations to deliver end-to-end features (APIs data access logging/monitoring).

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. Strong programming skills in Java (mandatory).
. Database experience with MS SQL Server Oracle SQL and PostgreSQL.
. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
. 3 years of relevant software development experience.

Strong Advantage

. Experience C# PHP and low-code platforms such as Mendix is an advantage.
. Experience with modern Java frameworks and patterns (e.g. Spring/Spring Boot REST APIs microservices).
. Exposure to containers and cloud environments and familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD observability).

Travel & Work Style

. Based primarily in Kuala Lumpur with on-site presence as required by the client and project needs.
. May require occasional after-hours / weekend support for planned changes maintenance windows or critical incidents.
. Comfortable working with global stakeholders across time zones and cultures.
