Deputy Attorneys General with critical support from criminal special investigators victim service specialists paraprofessionals and administrative staff prosecute criminal cases enforce consumer laws provide counsel to state agencies ensure the publics access to open government protect the abused and much more.
Summary Statement
The Fraud and ConsumerProtection Division Consumer Protection Unit seeks a SpecialInvestigator. This Special Investigator willsupport the implementation and enforcement of Senate Bill 40. Senate Bill 40 expands the scope of the Consumer Fraud Actby making certain patterns or practices of violations by landlords ofManufactured Home Communities an unlawful consumer fraud practice. Thelegislation further authorizes the Attorney General to initiate legal actionincluding filing petitions in Justice of the Peace Court to establishreceiverships of Manufactured Home Communities under specified circumstances.
Specifically thisSpecial Investigator will review complaints; conduct interviews; prepare andsubmit timely written reports; assist with the identification and documentationof patterns of unlawful conduct; coordinate with regulatory and law enforcementagencies; use and maintain investigative equipment; use and maintain hardwareand software for data analysis document review and case preparation; workclosely and collaborate with other members of the Consumer Protection Unit toprepare cases for prosecution; and perform other duties as required.
Preferred Qualification
1.Experiencewith financial fraud or other business-related investigations.

Minimum Qualifications:
1.Substantialexperience as a Law Enforcement Officer.
2.Abilityto work independently or in a team to investigate complex and difficult cases.
3.Abilityto prepare comprehensive investigative reports for review by a Deputy AttorneyGeneral for civil complaints.
4.Abilityto qualify and carry a weapon.
5.Strongwritten and verbal communication skills.
6.CurrentCouncil on Police Training (COPT) Certificate or recent COPT certification.
7.Familiaritywith Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) DELJIS NCIC and LEISS.
8.Possessionof a valid drivers license.
9.Willingnessto travel and attend various training opportunities as needed.
